Reaching for stuff, fidgeting, shaking. These are all reasons for a cop to have the right to search your vehicle. Hopefully you have nothing to hide, but none the less, you may anger the cop.
2. Don’t lie
This is a big problem. If you tell the cop a blunt lie, then you’re not only insulting their judgment; you’re insulting their intelligence. They are trained professionals, not jerks who just want to pull you over. This won’t get you anywhere.
3. Be respectful
Call the cop “Sir” or “Ma’am.” Don’t be rude to them. Don’t use slang, cops don’t “dig” that.
4. Avoid the situation in the first place!
Believe it or not, most cops decide wither to give a ticket or a warning before they even walk up to your car. So the best way to avoid the ticket is to not be in trouble in the first place.
5. Don’t speak first
When you get pulled over, avoid bursting out with “what’s the problem?” You will most likely be asked for your license and registration. Simply reply with a smooth “yes sir,” and be as compliant as possible. Some people will even refuse to give their information until they are given a reason for their accusation. Big mistake.
