Auto China 2012 reveals new automotive future

May 04, 2012 By: athony Category: Automobiles

n/a

When you think about the high-profile auto shows worldwide, the top shows are held in Detroit, Geneva, brand new release York, Tokyo, Chicago, Paris, Frankfurt and LA. But the Auto China 2012 Show in Beijing show us just how much the automotive world has changed in just a few short years.

General Motors and Chrysler have gone through a complete transformation since Detroit crashed, and the whole automotive industry has changed in an incredible way. Who would have thought that Hyundai Motor Group would be one of the top selling and innovative companies just a decade ago?

Today we see China emerging as the world’s largest auto market, and because of that global influence, the auto show in Beijing is now one of the most essential shows in the world. If you are a consumer looking to see what will be coming in the future, you might want to reserve your plane ticket to next years show in Beijing instead of Detroit and Geneva.

Just take a look at this years show in China and we can see what is playing out right before our eyes. The show that just closed on May 2, hosted almost every major international automaker in the world along with many up and coming Chinese brands showing off how far they come in a short period of time.

Even though sales of brand new release vehicles has slowed in China, most major car companies see China as a major area of expansion. Lamborghini just opened two brand new release showrooms in China, and almost every carmaker is looking to expand there in the future.

Another change on the horizon will be more and more Chinese car makers will be exporting their cars around the world. Firms like Geely used Auto China to trumpet the models designed and manufactured in China and their stands were hot property at the show.

Denza, the joint venture between BYD and Daimler saw some of the most interest at the show this year, and highlights another trend that seems to be gaining in strength, electric vehicles. Nissan, Volkswagen and Honda all had electric cars on display at the this years show suggesting that automakers are investing in battery-Strengthed vehicles for the long haul.

And what was once an area of dominance in Detroit, the Sports Utility Vehicle, now appears to represent the Strength of the Chinese market, as there 30 brand new release SUV’s scheduled to hit Chinese showrooms before the end of the year.

It looks like Beijing is fast becoming the brand new release show for carmakers to introduce their cars of the future.

2013 SRT Viper leaves Ferrari chief "speechless" [Video]

May 03, 2012 By: athony Category: Automobiles

n/a

In a Detroit radio interview on Tuesday, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne, told listeners that Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo was left “speechless” after he got a close-up look at the 2013 SRT Viper recently. Ferrari and Chrysler are both controlled by corporate parent Fiat, and Marchionne never referred to the Ferrari chairman by name, but only by his title.

According to Motor Authority, Marchionne, in an interview with WJR-AM radio told, after Cordero di Montezemolo was given an up close and personal meeting with the brand-brand new release 2013 SRT Viper, didn’t have words to describe the all-brand new release supercar. Marchionne was being questioned about production of the brand new release SRT Viper at the revamped Chrysler plant in Detroit, when he made the statement.

“The car is a superb machine. I had the chairman of Ferrari down here for the board meeting last week and he had a chance to look at the car, and he was speechless. I mean, for Ferrari to admit that the car is a unique vehicle is a hell of a compliment to the work that’s gone on here. So I’m delighted. I mean, so far, knock on wood, we’re doing well,” Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne told.

When Ralph Giles, President and CEO of SRT, and Senior Vice President of Chrysler Design, unveiled the brand new release 2013 Viper in brand new release York, he told the car’s Strength to weight ration is second only to one particular Ferrari monster. And Giles was cheered by those at the unveiling when he told they got in touch with Ferrari suppliers for the interior and that the car featured advanced materials.

The 2013 SRT Viper pumps out 640 horseStrength and 600 lb-ft of torque from a 8.4-liter V-10, and has a redline of 6,200 rpm. When Giles just recently took the first SRT Viper prototype out for a spin on Detroit streets, he told, “Oh my god, what a sensation driving that car on the freeway. With the modern day cell phones everyone was almost crashing into me trying to take pictures.”

When asked at the NYIAS by Auto Blog, what it’s like to drive the 2013 SRT Viper, Gilles told, “As a driver, to me I think, it’s taken me almost a decade to figure out how to drive that car, and I love driving it. But it must ben’t have to take a decade, you know? The brand new release car, the mission for the team, was to make it so that any one can extract the best out of this car. It still has a bite to it, but it’s subdued. But I’ll tell you, this car is incredible, you wear this car, you don’t manage it, you wear it”.

Production of the 2013 SRT Viper is expected to begin later this year at Chrysler’s Connor Avenue assembly plant in Detroit.

Sergio Marchionne to get new office in downtown Detroit

April 30, 2012 By: athony Category: Automobiles

n/a

The brand new release downtown business center of the Chrysler Group will take up the top two floors of the building to be named the Chrysler House. This building, which was previously known as the Dime Building, is currently owned by Rock Ventures LLC, the financial group overseen by Detroit business and founder of Quicken Loans Dan Gilbert. Located at 719 Griswold Street in Detroit, the Dime Building is easily recognized for its unique design, with a U-shaped form created by the central light court starting at the third floor. The portion of the brand new release Chrysler House occupied by the brand new release Chrysler Group offices takes up 33,000 square feet on the 22nd and 23rd floor. 70 employees will work in the brand new release Detroit offices with the most prominent being company Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne – who will have both an office and a private conference room.

Some critics of the Chrysler Group like to frequently point out that even though they are a “Detroit automaker”…their headquarters are actually in nearby Auburn Hills. However, regardless of where their corporate headquarters are located, the company has a clear commitment to the city of Detroit and this brand new release business office is just one small example.

The Chrysler Group is the only American automaker to have two production facilities that are actually in the city of Detroit. This includes the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) where the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee are built and it will also serve as the future build place of the Maserati Kubang luxury sport SUV. The other plant in Detroit is the Connor Avenue Assembly Plant – a building that most people will recognize as the build place of the 2013 SRT Viper (and almost every other Viper since 1995).

On top of having the two production facilities where some of the most popular SUVs and most Strengthful sports cars in the world are built, Chrysler also has their Mack Avenue Engine Complex with two facilities employing around 180 workers to build engines.

The brand new release home of the Great Lakes Business Center of the Chrysler Group in the brand new releasely renamed Chrysler House building will give support to the massive Auburn Hills campus-style headquarters. As the city of Detroit makes the effort to improve the overall quality of the area (especially in downtown Detroit), Chrysler’s support must be help show the country and the world that Detroit really isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be.

Chrysler expects that the move to the brand new release Chrysler House facility will be completed by late summer.

First 2013 SRT Viper prototype hits Detroit streets

April 25, 2012 By: athony Category: Automobiles

n/a

The man most credited with resurrecting the SRT Viper, Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of SRT, and Senior Vice President of Chrysler Design, took to the streets of Detroit in the car that he dreamed about ever since it was discontinued in 2010. The 2013 SRT Viper stole the show at the recent brand new release York Auto Show, with it’s 640-horseStrength V-10 and extreme performance. Monday it turned heads on the streets of Detroit.

Gilles couldn’t help taking the very first SRT Viper prototype out to a breakfast meeting on Monday where he delivered a speech at a Detroit law firm. As he drove to the meeting, he was greeted with turning heads and cell phone flashes as he cruised the streets of Detroit. And you can just imagine the reaction he got from those attorney’s as he pulled up in the 8.4-liter V-10 road monster.

“Oh my god, what a sensation driving that car on the freeway,” told Gilles. “With the modern day cell phones everyone was almost crashing into me trying to take pictures.” It must have been a thrill for the CEO of Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology brand as he kicked the Vipers 640 horseStrength and 600 lb. ft. of torque in the gas.

With Chrysler in serious financial trouble just a few years ago, it wasn’t easy for Gilles to bring the Viper back to life. It was cut from production in 2010 and labeled as too expensive and difficult to sell. But with the partnership with Fiat, Chrysler/Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne returned the brand to stability and has reintroduced Viper under the SRT badge. Gilles told the company still has a lot of work to do on the manufacturing process for the Viper. “We are really quality focused right now,” Gilles told. “It’s not so much about rushing into the market. It’s really making sure its right.”

The SRT Viper will be built at Chrysler’s Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit that sat idle since 2010, but has recently been refurbished according to Gilles.

The high-performance sports car will reach showrooms during the fourth quarter of this year.

GM and Chevy aim to save $2 billion in global advertising with new Ad agency

March 28, 2012 By: athony Category: Automobiles

n/a

A brand new release company, Commonwealth, is being formed to handle most of Chevy’s advertising around the world. Commonwealth is a joint venture between two Strengthhouse players in the advertising world. The brand new release Detroit-based venture is a 50-50 collaboration between the San Francisco-based Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and brand new release York-based McCann Erickson Worldwide. This is the first type of collaboration of it’s kind in advertising history.

“This is the first time that two large marketing communications holding companies have come together to form a single company,” told GM Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick. “Commonwealth will be based right here in Detroit, and its only focus will be on strengthening and growing Chevrolet into an iconic global brand.”

Chevy before this announcement was using about 70 global advertising agencies, so this must be dramatically cut costs. Ewanick expects Commonwealth to save GM around $2 billion over the next five years. As well as strengthen the focus Chevy as global brand. GM as a whole spends around $4.5 billion a year on advertising around the world for all of its brands.

Commonwealth’s creative team will consist of some of the best talent in the advertising industry. This includes Jeff Goodby, who will serve as Creative Chairman; Washington Olivetto, Linus Karlsson and Prasoon Joshi.

A well there will be an eight-person Global Advisory Board, which will oversee all creative initiatives and strategy for Chevy globally. There will be different projects and offices which will operate in Detroit, Milan, Mumbai and Sao Paulo.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of the team to win Chevy’s global creative business, taking our relationship one step further,” told Goodby, co-chairman and creative director, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners has led the Chevrolet creative account in America for quite awhile. McCann has been Chevy’s in many foreign markets which include Mexico, Canada, Brazil, India, Japan, China and Latin America.

“The Commonwealth solution is testament to McCann and Goodby’s unrelenting focus on creating marketing solutions that grow clients’ brands through creativity, digital velocity and performance.” told Nick Brien, chairman and CEO, McCann Worldgroup.

Commonwealth will immediately begin to transition responsibility for Chevy ad campaigns and projects in most global regions, with the exception of China, India and Uzbekistan. Those campaigns will continue to be managed by agencies specific to those countries.

GM seems to want to try brand new release advertising methods as it recently partnered with MTV, but could this be a step in the wrong direction for Chevy? All those global ad agencies understand the different market dynamics in their own countries. Cutting corners might be the wrong move by Chevy, since quality might suffer. Having quality go in the wrong direction is nothing brand new release to Chevy though.
