My insurance rates goes up after an accident

Ive got an accident in parking lot when i was in New York City. I don’t feel it was my fault at all and I have a lot of photos and can use to prove it. No one was determined at fault by the police officer on the scene. The car insurance companies are handling it right now. I’ve been told I shouldn’t have even reported it at all. But I thought at the time it was the right thing to do. I have a 2009 KIA under warranty, the other driver has a POS 2002 saturn. My car was damaged, but her car was fine. She backed into my car when my car wasn’t moving, when my car park!. I haven’t been in a car accident for six years and that one was determined no fault. I have no outstanding parking tickets, never had a speeding ticket, or running a red light, I was giving one ticket 7 years ago for talking on the cell phone while driving. (it was an emergency). Someone said I shouldn’t have reported it because both parties insurance rates will go up and we will both be at fault. Is this true?? If we are both at fault why is the insurance company investigating who’s fault it is in the first place????
I should notify that its a complicated story. While my car wasnt moving, I was in a parking space and I backed out checking all sides and behind me to straighten out in the parking space. I had finished reversing, turned forward to put my car in drive and thats when she backed into me. I was not reversing or moving at the time she hit me though. The parking lot has video tape showing it.

If your car was stationary, the other car is at fault. Keep in touch with the insurance. If it is deemed the other party’s fault, then your insurance should not go up. The insurance is probably going to get the other insurance to pay for your damages.
